Unborn Children Drawings
2013

alive sperm, microscope with a camera, PC, projector

Unborn Children’s Drawings (UCD) is a real-time bio-data installation. Using my sperm movement as input, which is tracked using Open Source Computer Vision (OpenCV), the installation generates digital drawings. The program that I wrote calculates the average coordinates of the moving cells, which are subsequently visualized as colorful, abstract drawings and projected onto a wall. During an exhibition, this installation is operating real-time, and prints from previous shows are displayed around it. Future experiments might investigate how the sperm cells’ drawing patterns might be affected by different diets, alcohol, adrenaline, temperature, etc.
